Why Nike behaves differently to every other house
Nike is the loudest category in the catalogue and the least forgiving, because the gap between a good listing and a mediocre one is visible in one place: the midsole. Uppers can be matched reasonably well by a dozen factories. A moulded midsole with the right tooling, the right density and the correct edge line is a different purchase entirely.
The practical consequence is that Nike shopping should be silhouette-led, not brand-led. An Air Force 1 is a leather-and-rubber problem; a Dunk Low is a panel-sequencing problem; a Pegasus is a mesh-density problem. Three products that happen to share a swoosh, and none of them compare to each other.
The last thing worth saying is that Nike is also the brand where the freight question bites hardest. Boxes are part of the culture and part of the weight. Decide before you order whether the box matters to you, because the answer changes the shipping maths by a noticeable margin.
